Kitchen Remodel Sequence and Household Prep
A kitchen remodel is easier to live through when demolition, rough work, cabinets, and temporary cooking are planned together.
Set up the temporary kitchen
Choose a safe place for a refrigerator, microwave, dishes, and cleanup. Ask when the sink and range will be unavailable.
Follow the dependency chain
Layout and selections lead to rough plumbing and electrical work; those precede wall closure, cabinets, counters, and finish fixtures.
Confirm long-lead items
Check cabinet and appliance specifications before setting dates. A countertop template usually depends on installed cabinets, so avoid scheduling it on assumptions.
Bring this into the planning conversation
Identify the days the kitchen cannot provide water, cooking, or refrigeration. If cabinets are custom or a countertop is fabricated after installation, make those dependencies visible on the schedule. Confirm who checks delivered items for damage and dimensional errors. A missing panel can delay a finish even when the room otherwise looks nearly complete.
